Deeply condoling the death of an old man due to lift failure in Pulianthoppu KP Park Apartment, Chennai, BJP State President Annamalai has accused that no action has been taken against the BST company that built these substandard apartments.
In a statement issued by BJP state president Annamalai, he said: “The news of the death of a 52-year-old man named Ganesan, who fell from the 7th floor due to a malfunction in the lift at the KP Park apartment complex in Pulyanthoppu, Chennai, is shocking. I offer my deepest condolences to his family.
The KP Park flats, built for the poor, were substandardly constructed, according to an IIT panel report. Following this, the DMK government said that BST Engineering Company, which built this apartment, will be blacklisted so that it cannot participate in government work. No action has been taken against BST for building substandard housing.
But last year, the DMK government again awarded the contract to the same BST company to set up a ₹250 crore financial technology city in Nantambakkam, Chennai. Regarding this, we had raised a question on June 19, 2023. The DMK government replied that the contract was awarded to the company only through a formal tender. The question of how the blacklisted company participated in the government contract is still unanswered.
Currently, one life has been lost due to lift failure. The DMK government is fully responsible for this, which has repeatedly given government jobs to companies that construct substandard buildings without taking any action on the IIT thesis.
If the life of the poor people is so easy for DMK? “I urge immediate action to be taken to ensure the safety of the public living in this flat, strict action should be taken against the BST company which is constructing substandard buildings and against all those who are repeatedly giving government work to this company,” BJP state president Annamalai said.
