Elon Musk’s SpaceX has come forward to rescue Sunita Williams and Wilmore stranded on the International Space Station (ISS) due to a helium leak in the Boeing Starliner. Check out a news package on this.
Starliner was successfully launched last month after two failed attempts in 2019 and 2022.
Sunita Williams and Wilmore of Indian origin were traveling in the Boeing Starliner space shuttle launched by the ‘Atlas 5’ rocket.
NASA has announced that they will stay in space for about a week and conduct research on the operations of this spacecraft.
Sunita Williams and Willmore, who were expected to return to Earth on June 3, continue to stay aboard the International Space Station.
It is learned that the work to fix the helium leak on the Starliner is still delayed after it has been stuck in the International Space Station for more than 10 days.
Although the helium leak was known to occur before the spacecraft was launched, it was deemed not significant enough to pose a major hazard, so additional leaks developed after reaching orbit. Now the astronauts have trouble returning to Earth.
In this case, Spice X CEO Elon Musk has said that he is ready to save the astronauts stranded on the Starliner.
Michael Lembeck, a former aerospace consultant at Boeing, says SpaceX’s Crew Dragon spacecraft is ready for a rescue mission.
After ten years of hard work, the Boeing Company had developed the Starliner spacecraft for NASA. It is said that this is a spaceship designed by astronauts to go to space.
It seems that time is not enough for Boeing. Over the past year, there has been criticism of the quality of Boeing planes. 20 ex-Boeing employees have revealed the truth about the safety and quality of Boeing aircraft.
Already, the criminal case related to the two 737 Max plane crashes that killed 346 passengers is still ongoing. The verdict is expected to be announced on July 7.
As of 2020, SpaceX is the only commercial space agency authorized by NASA to transport astronauts and cargo to the ISS. Now Elon Musk has hit another jackpot.
That means Elon Musk has won the contract to help bring the ISS, the 430,000 kg International Space Station, to Earth.
