Of the Rs 2,000 currency recovered by the Reserve Bank, 2.2 per cent, or Rs 7,755 crore worth of Rs 2,000 notes, have not yet been returned, the RBI said.
Arrangements were made to exchange the devalued 2,000 rupee notes in the bank by October 7 last year.
But as of last May, only 97.82 percent of the notes have been returned and 2.2 percent, i.e. 2000 rupee notes worth Rs.7755 crore have not yet been deposited in the bank, the Reserve Bank said.
