At the national level, BJP is forming the government with the support of the alliance party, but no party from Tamil Nadu is able to participate in the government. AIADMK-BJP alliances have suffered a major defeat and now the parties are engaged in discussions about the percentage of votes they got. In that way, we can see the details of the percentage of votes received by the political party in the last 2014, 2019, 2024 elections.
In Tamil Nadu, a four-cornered contest has arisen, and now the DMK alliance has won a big victory. That alliance won 40 to 40 Tamilnadu Puduwai constituencies
Apart from this alliance, AIADMK alliance, BJP alliance and Naam Tamilar Party have contested in the Lok Sabha elections. It is noteworthy that these two alliances and Naam Tamilar Party have met with a heavy defeat in the elections
Vote percentage: While the DMK alliance has completely swiped the opposition parties in Tamil Nadu, the political parties are saying that they have got the most votes and the vote percentage is increasing compared to the previous years. In that way, we can see that there are a lot of discussions about the vote percentage of AIADMK, BJP and Tamil parties.
AIADMK: In the past, except in 2014, AIADMK has faced Lok Sabha elections through alliance parties. But in 2014, the party, which contested alone, got 44.92 percent of the votes. It is also noteworthy that around 37 MPs were won in that election. Following this, the AIADMK secured 19.39 percent votes in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. In the current election, the voting percentage has slightly increased to 20.46. In Jayalalithaa’s absence, her supporters claim that Edappadi Palaniswami is increasing her vote by one percent at a time when a large number of political leaders have left.
DMK: DMK suffered a crushing defeat in the 2014 parliamentary elections but won Peru in 2019. DMK chief and chief minister Stalin has won 40 out of 40 constituencies in the 2024 election as well. In that way, the party’s vote percentage has decreased slightly. The reason is that due to the allocation of seats to alliance parties, the individual vote percentage of that party has decreased. In that way, the party’s vote percentage increased from 27.18 in 2014 to 33.52 in 2019. Currently it is 26.93 percent.
BJP: In the present environment, BJP is the party with the highest vote percentage after the two parties. In this Lok Sabha election, the candidates of that party have come second in many constituencies. Looking at that, the party’s vote percentage is 11.24. It is noteworthy that the party’s vote percentage in the last Lok Sabha elections was just 3.62 and in 2014 it was 5.56.
Naam Tamilar: The party which has got a large number of votes in this election is Naam Tamilar Party. In the current election, the party has secured around 35 lakh votes. The voting percentage is 8.19. In the last Lok Sabha elections held in 2019, the party got only 3.89 percent of the votes, but now the party has got about 5% of the votes. Through this, the party has also attained the status of a state party.
Congress: Congress is at the fourth place in Tamil Nadu in terms of vote percentage. But the party has never seen a field of its own. In 2014, it suffered a disastrous defeat in an environment where it had to contest without an alliance. That party’s vote percentage was just 4.37. After that, in the 2019 elections, the Congress, which was part of the DMK alliance, got 12.72% of the votes. It is noteworthy that in the current election it has received 10.67 percent votes.
BAMAK-DM: Next to this, BAMAK got 4.51% votes in 2014, 5.36% votes in 2019 and 4.4% votes in 2024. DMD’s vote bank is headed for collapse. The party got 5.19 percent votes in 2014 elections, 2.17 percent votes in 2019 and 2.59 percent votes in 2024.
Communists: Although they are national parties, they rely on alliances for Tamil Nadu. The Communist Party of India got 0.55 votes in that category in 2014. In 2019, the party’s vote share increased by 2.4 percent. It will be 2.15 in 2024. CPM’s vote percentage increased from 0.55 in 2014 to 2.28 in 2019 and 2.52 in the current election. Apart from this, parties such as the Liberation Tigers, Union Muslim League, Kongunnadu People’s National Party also have a specific vote bank in Tamil Nadu.
