The 18th Lok Sabha election of our country has been conducted in seven phases. The votes cast were counted and the results announced. No party got majority in this.
BJP, which expected to get 400 seats, was left with a big disappointment. While the exit poll results suggested that the BJP would win power with a single majority, the election results showed the opposite. A huge shock awaited the BJP, which faced the election with 400+ seats.
Because BJP did not even get absolute majority. Any party needs to win 272 seats to form a government with a simple majority in the 543-seat parliament. However, BJP won only 240 seats, Telugu Desam in alliance won 16 seats, JD(U) won 12 seats and Shinde Shiv Sena won 6 seats.
This resulted in a situation where no party could get a majority. Now there is an environment where the support of Chandrababu Naidu and Nitish Kumar is definitely needed to form the BJP government. Meanwhile, it is said that the BJP has already started the process of forming the government.
Accordingly, a meeting of alliance party leaders was held at Prime Minister Modi’s residence today. Telugu Desam President Chandrababu Naidu and JTU President Nitish Kumar attended the meeting. Chandrababu Naidu and JTU President Nitish Kumar have written letters expressing their support to Prime Minister Modi.
Subsequently, Prime Minister Modi was unanimously elected as the leader of the National Democratic Alliance in this meeting. Passing a resolution in the National Democratic Council meeting to make Prime Minister Modi the Prime Minister again. After the support of 15 parties, Prime Minister Modi was chosen as the leader and the deenman was passed.
Meanwhile, 10 more MPs who contacted Amit Shah expressed their support for Prime Minister Modi to become the Prime Minister. 10 MPs from independent and smaller parties contacted Amit Shah on phone and expressed their support for the formation of a BJP government under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi.
7 independent candidates have won. Nishal Patil contested from Sangli constituency in Maharashtra and won as an independent candidate. He has said that he will support the BJP. Amrit Pal Singh, Rashid who defeated Umar Abdullah in Baramulla constituency have also said that they will support BJP. It is reported that they have promised Amit Shah too.
