The people of Karnataka are shocked as the price of petrol and diesel has gone up due to the increase in taxes and now the price of milk has also gone up.
The price of Nandini milk has been increased in Karnataka. The price hike is effective from yesterday. The price of a liter of milk has increased from Rs.42 to Rs.44 and half a liter of milk has increased from Rs.22 to Rs.24.
Petrol prices rose by Rs 3 per liter and diesel by Rs 3.5 per liter within days of the Karnataka government’s hike in sales tax on fuel. In this case, the price of milk has also increased.
KMF, a dairy cooperative in the state of Karnataka, sells milk and milk products under the brand name Nandini. Nandini operates as a leading cooperative milk brand in South India. It procures milk from more than 27 lakh dairy farmers and processes the milk through its member milk societies.
As it is now the harvest season, milk storage in all district milk unions is increasing day by day and is now close to one crore litres. The Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) recently announced that the price of Nandini milk will be increased by Rs 2 per liter from June 26.
Accordingly, 500 ml and 1000 ml packets will have an additional 50 ml of milk added at the revised price. The price of each packet has been increased by Rs.2.
Milk Price Status: Blue Packet Milk (Toned Milk): Rs. Increase from 42 to 44
Blue Pocket (uniform donut milk): Increase from Rs 43 to Rs.
Orange packet milk (homogeneous cow’s milk): Increase from Rs.46 to Rs.48.
Orange Special Milk: Increase from Rs.48 to Rs.50.
Subham Bal: Increase from Rs.48 to Rs.50.
Samriti Pal: Increase from Rs.51 to Rs.53.
Subham (uniform toned milk): Increase from Rs.49 to Rs.51.
Subham Gold Milk: Increase from Rs.49 to Rs.51.
Subham Double Toned Milk: Increase from Rs.41 to Rs.43.
Amul, the country’s largest milk cooperative, on the second of this month raised the price of milk by Rs 2 per litre. Following this, Mother Dairy also hiked its milk price by Rs 2 per litre. In this case, Nandini Milk Company has also raised the price of milk by Rs 2. This is the second price hike in a year.
The Karnataka government has defended the decision saying the revised price is still low compared to milk prices in other states. Meanwhile, the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party has criticized the Congress government in Karnataka for the current price hike.
