A strong central government can be formed only through strong state governments. In a statement, the Governor said that the government is committed to protect the rights of the states and will strongly oppose any violation of the rights of the state governments with the backing of the constitution.
Governor’s speech today:
‘I congratulate all the members who have been elected by the people of Tamil Nadu in the recent assembly elections and have gathered here for the first session of the 16th Legislative Assembly.
I firmly believe that each of you will fulfill the duties expected of every MLA present in this House, which is the ray of democracy.
The Preamble to the Constitution of India, drafted by Annal Ambedkar, states that India should develop as a republic with the dignity of sovereignty, egalitarian society and secularism.
The landslide victory of the secular Progressive Alliance led by the DMK in this election by a decisive decision taken by the people of Tamil Nadu is an example of this objective.
This government is based on the principles of the Dravidian movement for social justice, gender equality, economic justice for all, opportunities for all through reservation, progress through education and social reform. Every action, every law, every plan and every effort of this state is based on the above principles.
This government will always act as the government for all the people of Tamil Nadu, whether they vote for it or not. The government is planning to tackle the Kovit massacre in consultation with all concerned, people from all walks of life and political parties in the legislature, in line with this government’s policy of uniting all.
The government took power almost three years after the disappearance of the great leader of the Dravidian movement and former chief minister Karunanidhi. He was a unique leader who served on this council for sixty years. Though he is no more with us today, his principles will always guide this government.
This government will take all necessary steps to strengthen the foundation of our democracy to continue its unwavering belief in the dignity of democracy, which is the lifeblood of a true republic.
This government is committed to achieve its ultimate goal of autonomy for the states and uphold the true principle of federalism by following the guidelines of the constitution. A strong union state can be built only through strong state governments. This government is determined to protect the rights of the states and if the rights of the state governments are violated, it will strongly oppose it with the support of the constitution. At the same time, we will maintain good relations with the central government in the form of joint ventures which will lead the country on the path of development in accordance with the principle of ‘Let’s give a hand to relations and give voice to rights’
After the inauguration of this government, Chief Minister Stalin visited New Delhi and briefed the Prime Minister about the assistance needed by the Tamil Nadu government for the prevention of corona, the problems being emphasized by the central government in terms of policy principles. of the state of Tamil Nadu, and major projects needed for the future development of Tamil Nadu. We hope that the central government will look into these demands and provide necessary assistance to the Tamil Nadu government.
Thus it is said in that speech.
