Former Police DGP Vikram Singh has said that Boleh Baba was responsible for last Tuesday’s horrific stampede at a spiritual event in Uttar Pradesh that killed more than 100 people.
Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar has said that a first information report will be registered and a full investigation will be conducted into the incident, while a case has been registered against Boleh Baba, who is currently absconding, under Sections 105, 110, 126 (2), 223 and 238 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
58-year-old Narayan Sagar Viswa Hari popularly known as Boleh Baba was born in Bahadur Nagar village of Kasganj district in Uttar Pradesh. His birth name is Suraj Pal Singh. His elder brother who is the second born in the family died recently, his younger brother Rakesh is farming in his own village.
Bole Baba is said to have initially worked as a constable in the Uttar Pradesh Police Department, later in the Intelligence Service, and was last stationed in Agra when he took voluntary retirement from the police force.
After leaving the police force, he changed his name to Bole Baba, although he was married and had no children. So he took spiritual incarnation along with his wife. His wife is known as Mata Sri.
He does not have any guru. As the self-proclaimed Almighty Guru, the spiritual programs conducted by Bola Baba are called ‘Manav Mangal Milan Satbhavana Samakam’.
His spiritual programs are held mostly on Tuesdays in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh. Baba conducts these spiritual programs along with his wife.
As a spiritual orator, Baba performs in an English-style white suit, tie and shoes, sometimes in a kurta-pyjama.
Initially, people from the lower strata of the economy and the people of Agra and Aligarh in Braj Mandal of Uttar Pradesh were the main devotees of Boleh Baba, also known as Narayan Sagar Viswa Hari Baba.
Now, Boleh Baba has extended his spiritual influence beyond Uttar Pradesh to Uttarakhand, Haryana, Rajasthan and Delhi. In particular, Baba has very close connections with businessmen and politicians. Not only Hindus, Sikhs but also Muslims are his devotees
Baba has built an ashram in his native town as he has spiritual followers all over North India.
Many Members of Parliament and Legislature have proudly gone on record as calling themselves Baba’s devotees.
Samajwadi Party leader, former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and Member of Parliament Akhilesh Yadav participated in Bole Baba’s spiritual program last year.
It is noteworthy that he had shared pictures of Baba on his X site and posted, ‘May the universe be eternally glorified to Narayan Sagar Hari.’
Baba Bole, who does not maintain an account on any social media, has 6 criminal cases pending against him, including sex offences.
Advocate Gaurav Dwivedi has filed a Public Interest Litigation in the Allahabad High Court seeking a CBI probe into the incident at Bole Baba’s spiritual program.
