An Ordinance has been passed in Uttar Pradesh which makes it possible to impose life imprisonment and a fine of one crore rupees for malpractices in competitive examinations.
Amid the controversy over the early leak of the NEET question paper, the Uttar Pradesh state cabinet met and tightened the rules for the competitive examination.
In that regard, the cabinet has approved an emergency law to impose imprisonment from 2 years to life in case of malpractice in the competitive examination conducted by the state government.
Apart from that, the Act provides for freezing of assets of the concerned persons and imposition of a fine of Rs.1 crore. It is important to note that under this Act, bail cannot be granted.
