When we think of Thanjavur, what comes to our mind is Prahadeeswarar Temple and Rajaraja Chola who built it. Thanjavur temple has many special features. It is considered a great achievement to build such a huge temple with stones in the Cauvery plains where there are no stones. Can anyone build this gigantic temple again with modern technology? Is that a question mark?
At that time, in the days when there was no “crane”, the stones were carried to a height of several meters and the temple was built. How such a huge temple could have been built without the help of modern technology like cranes is strange!
One of the world heritage symbols is the “Great Temple of Thanjavur”. Even after a thousand years, the main reason why the temple is still standing is the dedication and devotion of Rajaraja Chola, then it is no exaggeration…
Below the casket, the stone at the top of the plane, weighing 40 tons, consists of eight joints, the “Giant Stone”. The place where the temple is situated is a place called “rudder rock”. At this place, a pit is dug and filled with sand and a temple is built over it. When an earthquake occurs, the sand moves and the temple remains intact without any damage. Thanjavur is an expression of puppetry-like technique, which is why it is called “Architecture Marvelous” by experts in the know.
Social justice and equality:
Rajaraja Cholan has recorded the names of all those involved in the construction of the Tanjore Great Temple. Through this, the extent to which he praised and protected social justice and equality is seen as an external force.
Rajaraja Chola ruled South East Asia:
Rajaraja Cholan has crossed the sea to Sri Lanka and South Asia and planted the flag of victory. His son Rajendra Chola, who took over as co-king during his father’s reign, ruled with great skill. Both father and son handled the administration of the government well to the acclaim of the people.
Management Skills:
As at present, the land of the landowners was measured and taxed accordingly. He used to appoint people and generally manage all of them in the kingdom which was spread under his rule. As it stands now, the Prime Minister rules the country. Next to that, the Chief Minister rules the state.
Wherever Rajaraja Cholan went, he built Hindu temples to sky-high heights. As well as erecting his favorite temples, he also contributed heavily to the construction of a Vishnu temple.
If Rajaraja Chola had thought, he might have brought the whole of South Asia under his rule and declared it as a “Separate Nation”. But, instead of doing so, he insisted that “a united nation is our heritage”.
He did not think that Tamil Nadu should be separated from the Indian nation, as some separatists have been saying for a few years now. Historians are saying that if he thought so, his rule and governance were at a level that could be implemented immediately.
Slanderous Comment on the King:
Tamil film director Pa Ranjith said that the reign of Rajaraja Chola was a dark period and the land of the Scheduled Tribes was confiscated during his reign.
The devotees of Tamil Nadu got angry and complained at the police station, wondering how they could slander the King whom the world celebrates in such a way. A case was also registered and investigated for that.
All the people were angry to see another Tamil slandering a Tamil king who was celebrated by the whole world.
Tamil activists are thinking and regretting that Rajaraja Cholan, who should be revered and worshiped in Tamil Nadu, is being slandered by some people, just like how “Chhatrapati Shivaji” is worshiped in the state of Maharashtra.
Maharashtra honored Rajendra Chola:
On 23rd September 2016, Rajendra Cholan, the successor of Rajaraja Cholan, who raised the flag of victory in South Asian countries such as Sri Lanka and Maldives, to the central government shipbuilding company “Mazgon Docks Ship” , was dedicated by Devendra Fadnavis, the Chief Minister of the then Bharatiya Janata government in the state of Maharashtra.
Defense Minister of the day Manohar Parrikar praised the Chola king. “A messenger of peace for the Indian Ocean,” said Tarun Vijay, Member of Parliament of the day.
Heart Festival:
The birthday of Rajaraja Chola, who ruled the world with admiration, is celebrated every year on the day of his birth, “Aippasi month Satayam Nakshatram”. Devotees flock in large numbers to visit the Tanjore Peruvudaiyar Temple, and the entire week is full of festivities.
The apostate’s participation in the birthday program of Rajaraja Chola, who erected a 216-feet-high vimana to the Shiva Lingam and made his devotion endure through time, is said to cause great pain and distress to Hindu devotees. Whatever the program is, it should be done by those who have devotion and faith in it.
Some movements in the name of “rights recovery group” are making many efforts to stop the cult. Are these forces working to turn the Chola region, which has been full of huge temples for hundreds of years, into a place without theism? The doubt has arisen in the minds of the general public.
In other religious programs, the people who are present at that time are conducting the programs. But if it is a Hindu religious program, the devotees are expressing their concern that people with atheism policy are conducting the program and it is causing great distress.
Long live the Great Temple of Tanjore..!
Long live the fame of King Rajaraja Chola!!
