In Uttarakhand, the High Court has barred the government from allowing people from three districts to make pilgrimages to temples including Badrinath and Kedarnath.
Uttarakhand is ruled by the BJP, led by Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat. Millions of devotees make the annual pilgrimage to the Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri temples in the Himalayas.
A session chaired by Uttarakhand High Court Chief Justice RS Chauhan, which heard the case yesterday, imposed an interim restraining order on the state’s permission. In Kumbh Mela, the spread of corona increased as similarly announced procedures were not followed.
You say that what we are saying is that it is against the spiritual tradition to broadcast temple programs live on TV all over the country. But when the scriptures were written, it should be noted that there were no such devices as ‘TV’. Thus the judges ordered.
