Washington Freedom wins 2nd major league championship
The 2nd Major League Final was held today. The Washington Freedom led by Steve Smith faced the San Francisco team led by Corey Anderson.
San Francisco won the toss and elected to bowl. Accordingly, Travis Head and Steve were the opening players of the Washington Freedom team who batted first. Travis Head, the hero of the previous games, did not last long and was dismissed for 9 runs. He was followed by Andris Kaus on 21 runs and Rachin Ravindra on 11 runs.
Even though the wicket fell on one side, Steve Smith played aggressively at the other end. Maxwell joined hands with him for the 4th wicket and the score rose to the top of the action. With this, Washington Freedom accumulated 207 runs losing 5 wickets in 20 overs. Steve Smith scored 88 runs and Maxwell scored 44 runs. Cummins took the maximum 2 wickets for the San Francisco side.
After this, the San Francisco team, which set out for the Himalayan target of victory by scoring 208 runs, was unable to cope with the Washington bowling and was all out after scoring 111 runs in just 16 overs. With this, Washington won the Breeden Cup by a huge margin of 96 runs.
Carmi Le Roux was the top scorer for the San Francisco Unicorns with 20 runs. Marko Johnson and Rachin Ravindra took 3 wickets each, Andrew Tye took 2 wickets, Netrawalkar and Maxwell took 1 wicket each for Washington Freedom team who bowled well.
