7 countries including India and Pakistan will participate in the South Asian Junior Athletics Championship starting today in Chennai.
The South Asian Junior Athletics Championship will be held from today to the 13th at Nehru Stadium, Chennai. The tournament is organized by the Tamil Nadu Athletics Association with the support of the Athletics Federation of India. Minister Udayanidhi Stalin will inaugurate the tournament.
A total of 173 players from 7 countries India (62), Pakistan (12), Sri Lanka (54), Bhutan (5), Nepal (9), Bangladesh (16) and Maldives (15) participated in this series. are participating.
28 events for both genders including 100m race, 200m race, relay race, high jump, javelin throw, discus throw, long jump, 3000m steeplechase race are conducted. This is the first International Athletics Championship to be held in Chennai after 1995. The competition will be held from 5 pm to 8.30 pm daily in Minolli.
The Indian team includes Varun Uri Manohar from Tamil Nadu (100m race), Ariharan Katiravan (110m hurdles), Jitin Arjunan (long jump), Ravi Prakash (triple jump), Karthikeyan (4x100m relay), Abhinaya Rajarajan ( 100m Run), Pratik Shah Yamuna (Long Jump, Triple Jump), Lak Shanya (Long Jump) and Kanista Deena (4x 400m Relay) have featured 9 players. Home team India is expected to bag more medals.
