Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Tamil Nadu state president, Annamalai, addressed a public meeting in Sankarankovil, Tenkasi district. In his speech, he highlighted that Tamil Nadu is the only state in India without Navodaya schools. Furthermore, he mentioned that the central government is ready to establish such schools under the name “Kamarajar Schools.” He stated that this initiative would provide high-quality education in the state and ensure that students receive a standard education.
Annamalai emphasized that education is the most powerful tool for underprivileged children and that only education can transform their future. He noted that the signature campaign launched by Tamil Nadu BJP has garnered over 1.2 million signatures, reflecting the importance people place on education.
He accused the DMK government of turning Tamil Nadu into a hub for negative forces. He claimed that the illegal drug trade, especially the circulation of ganja, has increased across the state, creating a serious threat to society. He also pointed out that women feel unsafe until they reach home, emphasizing the need for stricter measures to ensure public safety.
Annamalai further criticized the DMK government for rampant corruption and bribery. He alleged that corruption has infiltrated every sector of the administration and that acquiring wealth through illegal means has become normalized. He stressed that an administration free of corruption is crucial for the state’s progress and that the BJP aims to establish a transparent government in Tamil Nadu.
He also praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for continuously honoring Tamil culture and language. He mentioned that the Prime Minister presents traditional Tamil products as gifts during his foreign visits, thereby promoting Tamil culture globally. This, he said, is a recognition of Tamil heritage on an international platform.
Regarding Tamil Nadu’s financial situation, Annamalai expressed concern that the state’s debt has reached ₹9.5 lakh crore. He contrasted this with Gujarat, a state that does not permit alcohol sales yet maintains a budget without a financial deficit. Meanwhile, despite Tamil Nadu generating significant revenue from liquor sales, the state still struggles with financial deficits. He blamed the ruling party for mismanaging public funds, ultimately burdening future generations with debt.
He accused the DMK government of deliberately degrading the quality of education in the state. He reiterated that education is essential for national progress and that the BJP firmly believes that only educated individuals should lead the nation. He also pointed out that the Tamil Nadu government earns ₹50,000 crore annually from liquor sales but still fails to balance its expenses, which he cited as a sign of poor governance.
Annamalai concluded by urging people to vote for the BJP in the 2026 state assembly elections to bring a government that ensures Tamil Nadu’s growth and stability. He emphasized that the state requires a transparent and development-focused administration to secure a prosperous future.
