The gang’s criminal activities have reportedly spread beyond Bihar to Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat.
In Bihar’s Muzaffarpur district, a woman who escaped from a gang who allegedly cheated her of getting a job with a salary of 18,000 to 20,000 rupees and beat her up has revealed many shocking details.
He said that he contacted the concerned company about the vacancies for women posted on social media and when he applied for the job and was selected, he was asked to pay 20000 rupees as a training fee.
She said that after paying the fee, she was locked up in a house in Ahiyapur area with other young women and she questioned this as she had not been paid for almost 3 months, to which Tilak, the owner of the company, promised to pay an additional 50,000 if 50 more young women were added.
After joining some people, the owner sexually abused her and beat her with a belt.
Muzaffarpur Deputy SP Vinita Sinha said that a case has been registered against 9 people and the statements of the victims have been recorded. In this case, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sinha has assured that as per law, strict action will be taken against the culprits and appropriate punishment will be given.
Sexual crimes against young women are on the rise in Bihar. It is known that the number of young women who are sexually harassed in the hope of employment is over a thousand.
It is said that since 2022, the authorities have not taken any action despite many complaints being lodged in various police stations across Bihar.
