Ashok Pujari, senior leader of the secular Janata Dal (People’s Party), has warned that slogans calling for a separate state of North Karnataka could escalate if the monsoon session is not convened in Belgaum.
In Tamil Nadu, similar calls have been made for the division of the Coimbatore, Tiruppur and Salem districts into separate states.
There has been a long-standing demand that the northern part of Karnataka should be divided into separate states to promote development.
In this context, Ashok Pujari, senior leader of the secular Janata Dal party, has warned that slogans demanding a separate state of North Karnataka will increase if the monsoon session is not convened in Belgaum.
Speaking at a press conference in Belgaum, he said, “The aspirations of the people of North Karnataka have been constantly ignored for a long time. The legislature should convene at appropriate intervals to make Belgaum another center of power.
The Legislative Assembly was built in Belgaum to resolve the problems of the people of North Karnataka. However, for the past three years, the government has not convened a meeting of the legislature. It is necessary for the legislature to convene at regular intervals to decentralize the administration. ”
Also, we need to hold constructive discussions to talk about the issues facing the people of North Karnataka. Negotiations will help resolve the issues, “said Ashok Pujari.
