Chief Minister Chandrashekhar Rao inaugurated the newly constructed collector’s office in Siddipet district. Then District Collector Venkatarama Reddy bowed by touching the feet of the nearby Chief Minister Chandrashekhar Rao.
An IAS officer touched the Chief Minister’s feet and offered prayers in the presence of several senior government officials including Chief Minister Somesh Kumar, sparking a controversy.
Collector Venkataram said in a statement, ‘The Chief Minister is like a father to me. It is the culture of the state to seek blessings from adults on special days. So, before I took charge of the new office, I had his blessings,” he explained.
Similarly in Kamareddy district, Collector Sarath fell at the feet of Chief Minister Chandrashekhar Rao, who had opened the Integrated Collector’s Office. This again caused controversy. IAS officers criticized from several quarters for falling at the feet of the Chief Minister.
