According to the new IT rules, The appointment of an interim chief executive officer for India is in the final stages, Twitter told the Delhi High Court.
The federal government recently introduced a new information technology law. Social media companies, including Facebook and WhatsApp, have agreed to take action, but Twitter has objected. But under the new rules, the federal government has set a deadline for Twitter to appoint officials in India, including a junior officer.
But even after that, Twitter did not take action. Following this, the Central Government declared that the company had lost legal protection in India.
Subsequently, under the new rules of the Central Government, Twitter appointed Tamendra Sadhu as the Interim Minority Officer for India. However, she resigned shortly after her appointment.
Meanwhile, lawyer Amit Achaiya has filed a case in the Delhi High Court against Twitter for refusing to comply with the federal government’s new rules.
Twitter filed an affidavit in the case on Saturday. In it, ‘The Interim Complaints Officer for India was recently appointed under the new IT rules. He abruptly resigned from the post on June 21, just before the appointment process was fully completed. Therefore, work is underway to appoint a new Interim Chief Executive Officer for India. That work has now reached its final stage, ”Twitter said.
He further added that the petition filed by Bhoga alleging that Twitter did not respect India’s new information technology law was unacceptable. This is because, as a registered company in the United States, Twitter cannot be held responsible for being the publisher or creator of posts published by this medium. Therefore, Twitter has demanded in the affidavit that the petition filed against the company should be dismissed.
