It has been revealed that in the last 4 general elections in 15 constituencies in Bihar, the same caste has been winning continuously.
The parliamentary election results were released on June 4. BJP won a total of 240 seats. Congress won 99 seats.
Modi was sworn in for a third term on Sunday with the strength of two coalition parties, the Telugu Desam Party and the United Janata Dal. A total of 72 ministers took oath with him.
Nitish Kumar is the most important reason for Modi to form the government for the third time. His United Janata Dal won 12 seats in Bihar.
Similarly, BJP won 12 constituencies. Tejashwi Yadav’s Rashtriya Janata Dal, which was expected to win by a huge margin, won only 4 seats.
Ram Vilas Paswan’s party Jan Lokshakti won 5 constituencies. This is also a party that was part of the BJP alliance.
In this case, we have got some details about the Bihar state election field and the candidates.
Through this, it has been revealed that from 2009 till the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections, candidates belonging to the same caste have been winning in about 15 of the total 40 constituencies in Bihar.
Of these, seven belong to upper caste, six belong to OBC, economically backward class and one Dalit each.
Out of the total 15 constituencies in this list, only two constituencies (Basim Sambaran, Poorvi Sambaran) are contesting consecutively.
In the remaining 13 constituencies, candidates belonging to the same caste have won in the last four general elections. The caste background has remained the same even though parties have changed candidates.
So, through this, it is clear how important caste has become in the electoral politics of Bihar.
Center for the Study of Developing Societies (CSDS) professor and election analyst Sanjay Kumar has given an interview to an English newspaper about this kind of trend of political parties. It said, “This has been happening for the last twenty years
They do this because a particular caste is in majority in a constituency.. These reasons help the candidate to win. So the parties are fielding candidates based on the winning caste,” he said.

Prior to this, from the 2009 election till the 2019 election, candidates belonging to the same caste were fielded. Earlier the number of such constituencies was 18. But this time three constituencies namely Aurangabad, Arra and Samastipur have been won by other castes. So the situation has changed a bit.
These trends change when political parties form mega coalitions. That’s what the data reflects, the professor explained. .
In the last 4 elections since 2009, candidates belonging to the same caste have won a total of 15 constituencies. The Rajput community continues to win in Maharajganj and Vaishali constituencies.
Rajput candidates have been excluded from Aurangabad and Arah constituencies in three consecutive elections in 2009, 2014 and 2019.
This time Bania who belongs to OBC category has won Arah constituency. The reason for that is the mega alliance. Then this caste mentality disappears. How it is should be studied separately.
Both Nawada and Mungar are in the list of constituencies where candidates belonging to the same caste have consistently won.
Upper caste candidates have been winning from both these seats since 2009. This time BJP’s Vivek Thakur and JD(U)’s Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh have won.
Constituencies Darbanga and Patna Saheb come from upper caste Brahmin control. Those candidates have been winning since 2009.
Kirti Azad won Darbhanga in 2009 and 2014. Gopalji Thakur has won in 2019, 2024. Shatrughan Sinha won Patna in 2009 and 2014. After that former Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad won in 2019 and 2024.
Upper castes continue to dominate a total of seven constituencies in Bihar. It is held by three Rajputs. Six seats are in the hands of OBCs.
That is, Madhepura, Madhubani, Badaliputra are controlled by Yadavs. Nalanda, Karagat, Passim Chambaran, Gurmi and Kushwaha are under Bania control.
In Muzaffarpur, the economically backward class is winning. Next Dalit candidate has been winning continuously since 2009 in Gaya. HAM (Secular) candidate Jitan Ram Manji won from Gaya in 2024 election. He is the former chief minister of this state.
