While the results of the Lok Sabha elections have caused a lot of shock to the BJP, the assertions of the leaders of the alliance like Chandrababu Nadu and Nitish Kumar have created additional tension for the BJP.
Like last year 2019, Lok Sabha elections have been held across the country in 7 phases this year. The first phase will be on April 19 in 22 states, the second phase will be on April 26 for 88 constituencies, the third phase will be on May 7 for 94 constituencies, the fourth phase will be on May 13 for 96 constituencies, the fifth phase will be on May 20 for 49 constituencies, and the sixth phase will be on May 25 in 58 constituencies. The 7th and final phase of elections for 57 constituencies in 7 states was completed on 1st June.
In this case, the election results were announced the day before yesterday. Will Narendra Modi sit in the Prime Minister’s chair again this time? Or will the India alliance give a strong contest and take over the government? Expectations intensified. From the beginning, the BJP-led NDA alliance faced tough competition.
Finally, the BJP alliance won 293 seats and the Congress-led India Alliance won 234 seats. Taking on the BJP cannot form a government with the help of Chandrababu Naidu’s Telugu Desam and Nitish Kumar’s United Janata Dal. These two parties have 33 constituencies as 17+16. Deducting this, the BJP alliance will get only 260 seats. 272 seats are required to get majority.
So the BJP is counting on the support of Chandrababu Naidu and Nitish Kumar. In exchange for this, there are reports that both the parties are demanding the post of Speaker of the Lok Sabha or the post of coordinator of the NDA alliance.
It is said that there is a strong reason behind seeking the post of Speaker. That is, these parties are demanding the post of Speaker to prevent action against them under the Anti-Party Act.
If these parties try to support the Congress in the next 5 years, the Speaker is likely to take action against them and disqualify them. But if they hold the post of Speaker, there will be no chance for this. Moreover, since the position of Speaker is a powerful position in the Parliament, the competition for this has intensified.
On the other hand, BJP is not ready to devolve 6 major departments like Railways, Home Affairs, Finance, Defence, Law and Information Technology.
