Everyone makes this mistake while eating. But Shastra says that it should not be done at all.
Shastra, Sampradayam is something laid down by our forefathers. Those who believe in it will follow. For every action there are do’s and don’ts in Shastra.
It is good to follow certain shastras while eating in that way. Some say that Shastras are meant for purity.
In that way, you should not eat food while wearing a wet cloth. Don’t eat with your head open like that. It should never be eaten with a wet head. It is said that they eat with a wet head and with the head spread out only during a mourning incident.
When eating like that, do not roll it into a ball and eat it. Also do not portion the food into balls. Holding the orb like this is like holding the Bindam while offering tithi to the ancestors. So never roll the ball like that.
Similarly, you should not eat with your hands on the ground. Eating with a plate on your lap is very wrong. Do not eat with your hand resting on your left thigh. Eat sitting in the house. Like that, some people eat on silver and gold plates (if it’s convenient!).
But for some reason, food should not be eaten on iron plates. Even if Sami calls you while eating, you should not get up and go. Above all, food should never be wasted. Do not pour water on the plate while eating. Do not throw away food on the plate. Similarly, do not eat in a hurry, do not swallow any food. Water should be given first while eating.
Similarly, when serving food, water should be served first. Only then should the food be placed. Our ancestors have followed so many rituals while eating food. But some people who look at this scientifically, if we eat with the plate up, the distance we bend down to eat will decrease.
This may lead to overeating. And the stomach does not fall only when eating while bending over. If we eat with our hands like that, the dirt on the floor will stick to our hands and it will affect us.
