The meeting of the leaders of NDA alliance parties led by Modi is over. What are the top 10 things to look out for?
The MPs of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance parties unanimously elected Modi as their leader today. After that he will be sworn in as Prime Minister.
Before this meeting, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was described by many media as a king maker. There were many speculations that he would seek and pressurize key departments in the new cabinet to be formed.
But Nitish Kumar, who participated in today’s meeting, said, “I will always be with Modi” and tried to bow down at his feet.
But Modi stopped it. And Modi, who is about to take office for the third term as Prime Minister, delivered a very long speech after the election results.
Majority is not important for governing; He said that NDA rule will continue for another 10 years and we will lead the country on the path of democracy and give rule to 140 crore people.
Following this, Modi is expected to be sworn in as Prime Minister in a ceremony to be held on Sunday evening.
What are the top 10 things to watch out for in today’s NDA alliance meeting? Here is the list for that:
1) NDA alliance MPs have all come together and elected Modi as the leader. After that senior alliance members including Chandrababu Naidu and Nitish Kumar will go with caretaker Prime Minister Modi and meet President Draupadi Murmu. They will formally provide a comprehensive list of members of parliament who support him.
2) United Janata Dal leader and Bihar Rural Development Minister Shravan Kumar has shared some things with PTI regarding this. In it, he said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi and our party leader Nitish Kumar will decide the cabinet post issue. But, it should be in a respectful manner,” he said.
3) Senior BJP leaders including Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh are said to have been engaged in a discussion regarding allotment of targets to alliance parties throughout yesterday.
They are said to have been approached by Shravan Kumar, a senior leader of the United Janata Dal, who demanded “respectable representation” of his party in the Union Cabinet.
It is also leaked that there has been talk of giving special status to Agniveer and Bihar.
4) There is talk in Delhi circles that Janata Dal United chief Nitish Kumar has demanded three ministerial posts for his party.
A party needs a total of 272 members to form a government on its own in the 543-member Lok Sabha. BJP did not get that much space. But NDA alliance has 293 MPs.
So, Modi has given assurance in this meeting that this government will provide stable governance. Modi’s pre-election guarantees were programmatic. It has become a guarantee of stable governance after the election results.
5) Bihar has been unlucky in many ways in the cabinet that BJP is going to form. This means that Nitishuk who has 12 MPs and Chandrababu Naidu who has 16 MPs have got an opportunity that even DMK which has won 40 MPs has not got.
Ram Vilas Baswan’s party, Lok Janashakti, has hit the jackpot in Bihar, barring Nitish Kumar.
Party president Chirag Paswan told PTI that the NDA has extended unconditional support to the coalition government under Modi’s leadership.
If he is given a place in the cabinet, the strength of Bihar will increase.
6) Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has told Modi to make a gift to replace his son Shrikant Shinde with senior parliamentarians in the party as ministers.
7) According to reports, all the parties in the National Democratic Alliance are likely to present their letters of support to the President for Modi’s inauguration as the new Prime Minister today.
8) Modi, who will be sworn in for the third consecutive term as the head of the coalition government, presided over a meeting of BJP MPs held last Wednesday. Then they unanimously elected him as their leader.
9) United Janata Dal has lost political strength in the last few years. That means the party was lagging behind BJP and RJD. After these Lok Sabha election results, Nitish’s party has become the strongest party to dominate the Indian level.
10) That means JD(U) with 12 MPs has become the second largest BJP ally after TDP which has 16 MPs. The magic bullet that can make BJP’s rule last for the next 5 years is stuck in the hands of the leaders of these two parties.
