Prashant Kishor’s prediction that BJP will win 300 seats in the Lok Sabha elections went wrong, for the first time he has given an explanation in this regard.
The Lok Sabha elections were announced on June 4. All the surveys had predicted that the BJP would win the government with a single majority, but the election results were the opposite.
Prashant Kishore: Noted election consultant Prashant Kishore has predicted that the BJP will win more seats in this Lok Sabha election than in 2019. He also said that BJP will clean sweep the opposition parties in this. But the election results were the exact opposite.
The BJP managed to win only 240 seats, 20 percent less than what it had won in the last 2019 elections. However, Narendra Modi is set to assume the post of Prime Minister for the third time as the NDA alliance has secured the necessary number for majority.
Prashant Kishore: Meanwhile, Prashant Kishore has commented for the first time about the election results and his predictions being wrong. Admitting that his predictions were wrong in the Lok Sabha elections, Election Consultant Prashant Kishore said that he is ready to accept people’s criticism for this.
Prashant Kishore, who had not made any comments for the last two days after the election results were announced, made some important comments in the popular English media regarding this. Regarding this, he said, “Yes, I and the surveyors got it wrong…we are ready to accept people’s criticism.”
I won’t say any more: When asked if he will continue to say how many seats the party will win in the coming elections, he said, “No… I will not say how many seats any party will get from now on. I am not going to talk about that.”
He also explains why his predictions keep getting wrong. Regarding this, he said, “My prediction was completely wrong due to many things.. I presented my prediction in front of people. But it was wrong by a huge amount, up to 20 percent..
No anger: We said BJP will get close to 300.. But they managed to win only 240 seats. But I would like to mention that I have said earlier that there is a small grudge against Narendra Modi. At the same time there is no widespread discontent in the country,” said Prasad Kishore.
No mistake: Talking about the opposition parties, he said, “The opposition parties have not run a positive campaign. That is why I had said that the BJP would gain a foothold in the east and the south. Now it is clear that my prediction was wrong. But if you look beyond the numbers, our prediction is not wrong.
“In terms of vote percentage, the BJP has got 36 percent of the votes. It’s just 0.7 percent less than the previous election,” he said.
It is going on like this: When asked if he would give a prediction of how many seats a party will continue to give, he said, “As an election strategist, you should not go into numbers… I have never said this before… This is the second mistake I have made in the last two years… Once in West Bengal. I made a mistake.. This (Lok Sabha election) is the second mistake.. But if you delete the number, what I said is happening the same way,” he said.
