At least 29 people were killed on the spot when a passenger bus collided with a lorry. A further 40 injured were taken to hospital.
A passenger bus traveling from Sailkot to Rajanpur on the Indus Highway collided head-on with a lorry in the Ghazi Khan area. The bus was carrying more than 70 passengers when it lost control, killing 29 people at the scene and 44 others were admitted to Ghazi Khan Hospital with serious injuries, Superintendent of Police Irshad Ahmed said.
The hospital management said that 4 out of the 40 people who were taken to the hospital were in critical condition.
Pakistan’s Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid has expressed his condolences over the incident and said, “The tragedy of those returning home to celebrate the upcoming Eid-ul-Asha is like a catastrophe. May God give the dead a high place in paradise and courage for the bereaved families.”
