Yang Liu, CEO of Taiwan’s leading electronics manufacturer Boxcon, plans to visit India this year. Young Liu received the Padma Bhushan in Taipei on July 4 from Manharsingh Yadav, Director General of the Taipei Association in Delhi.
Young Liu was conferred the Padma Bhushan, India’s third highest award, on the occasion of the 75th Republic Day this year. It is noteworthy that he had come to India in July last year to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and attend the Semiconductor India Conference in India. In this condition, he is going to make the next trip in a year.
Paxcon has invested around $9-10 billion in India. During the trip, Young Liu is expected to make key decisions on the expansion of Boxcon’s iPhone manufacturing plant, joint venture with HCL Group to set up a chip plant, start an electric vehicle manufacturing unit and establish production of Apple AirPods.
Paxcon continues to increase its investment in India, which represents a huge growth in the country’s electronics manufacturing sector.
The expansion of the new iPhone manufacturing plant and other manufacturing units will lead the company to increase employment in India.
Establishing a chip plant with HCL Group will promote chip manufacturing in India, which is crucial for the country’s technological independence.
The launch of an electric vehicle manufacturing unit will be a very important thing for the electric vehicle market in India. Similarly, there is great uncertainty as to where the industry is headed. With Tesla’s takeover, Paxcon will have a tough competition to attract the company’s electric vehicle division.
Paxcon CEO Young Liu’s visit to India will not only improve the trade relationship between the two countries but will also take the final decision on further investments and expansion.
Overall, Boxcon’s India expansion and the arrival of Young Liu have given new hope to the growth of India’s manufacturing sector.
