In this context, Central Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has published a list of scenic railway journeys from snowy valleys to vast oceans on his X page.
Describing the snow-covered valley from Banihal to Pathgam as a picturesque sight in Jammu & Kashmir, Ashwini Vaishnav says that the train journey is often like a fairytale ride and one can witness stunning views throughout the journey.
Ashwini Vaishnav also said that a train journey to enjoy the natural beauty of Dutsagar Falls located in Sanchem Taluk in Goa is a great experience.
The hill railway from Kalka to Shimla covers 800 bridges. The railway is a 96-km steep stretch in cross-section. For this reason, this railway is listed in the Guinness Book of Records. Ashwini Vaishnav also mentions this train journey as one of the most beautiful mountain railways in India.
Next, Ashwini Vaishnav mentions Gujarat’s Kutch train journey, where you can enjoy the vibrant hues of the Thar Desert and the white sands of the Rann by Namo Bharat Rapid Train.
The Nilgiri Hill Railway, built by the British in 1908, is also known as the ‘toy train’ by the locals. This train is 115 years old. The train has also received UNESCO World Heritage status since 2005. The 46 km long railway line connects the plains of Mettupalayam with the hills of Coonoor.
In Kerala, one can enjoy a scenic train ride through the tranquil beaches and coconut groves of the coastal city of Thiruvananthapuram, Central Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has mentioned.
