The prize money has been announced for Indian sportsmen and women who have won medals in the Paralympic Games.
The 17th Paralympic Paralympic Games in Paris concluded last night with a spectacular performance and amazing adventures. More than 4,400 men and women from 170 countries participated in 22 sports.
In this, India won a total of 29 medals including 7 gold, 9 silver and 13 bronze and ranked 18th in the medal list. The medal winning Indian team returned home today. They were given a rousing welcome at the Delhi airport.
India has won the highest number of medals in Paralympic history. India had won 19 medals in the last Tokyo Paralympic series. It was India’s highest medal tally in history. This time the Indian players surpassed that number and won a total of 29 medals.
Indian Paralympians won 7 gold medals, 9 silver medals and 13 bronze medals.
Meanwhile, the central government has announced prize money for the Indian sportsmen and women who have won medals in the Paralympic series.
Accordingly, the prize money has been announced as Rs.75 lakh each for the gold medal winners, Rs.50 lakh each for the silver medal winners and Rs.30 lakh each for the bronze medal winners. Also, Rs 22.5 lakh has been announced as prize money for the medal winners in the team category.
Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandavia participated in the appreciation ceremony organized by the Central Government for the returned players and praised the players.
He said, “Our country is progressing in para sports. We won 19 medals in the last Paralympics and now we have won 29 medals. All facilities will be provided to the sportsmen and women participating in the next Paralympics.”
