Prime Minister Modi has said that terrorism is a major challenge to global peace.
Prime Minister Modi, who is on a 2-day official visit to Laos, attended the 19th East Asia Summit held in Vientiane. Speaking then, he offered condolences to the people affected by typhoon Yagi in the Philippines. India has always supported ASEAN unity, he said.
Prime Minister Modi said that steps should be taken to restore democracy in Myanmar and noted that the conflicts in various parts of the world are having a negative impact. Prime Minister Modi also said that India wants to establish peace in Europe and West Asia.
Following this, Prime Minister Modi held bilateral talks with Laos Prime Minister Sonexe Sibandon. Then, MoUs were signed between the two sides. After this, Prime Minister Modi met Thai Prime Minister Padongtern Shinawatra.
Earlier, Prime Minister Modi held discussions with New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Lacson, who was here to participate in the East Asia Summit. Following this, he met and talked with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken. At that time, he expressed his condolences to the victims of Hurricane Milton in the United States.
