Tamil Nadu Budget Logo Change: BJP State President Annamalai Strongly Condemns the Removal of Devanagari Script
Ahead of the presentation of the Tamil Nadu state budget for the financial year 2025-26, the government has released a new logo for the budget.
In this updated logo, the Devanagari script “र” in the Indian Rupee symbol has been removed and replaced with the “₹” symbol along with the Tamil letters “ரூ” (Rupee).
This decision by the Tamil Nadu government has sparked debates in political and social circles. Strongly criticizing this move, BJP state president Annamalai expressed his opinion through a post on X (formerly Twitter).
He stated:
“The Rupee symbol was originally designed by Udaya Kumar, the son of former DMK MLA Dharmalingam. His design was officially adopted across India. Given this, the Tamil Nadu government’s decision to alter the symbol in the budget logo is a grave mistake. This reflects the foolishness of the government.”
The change in the budget logo has now become a subject of political controversy, drawing widespread reactions.
