Actor Rajinikanth gave an interview at the Chennai airport while leaving for the inauguration of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his cabinet in Delhi this evening.
Narendra Modi will take office as the Prime Minister of the country for the third time today. Actor Rajinikanth met the media when he arrived at the Chennai airport to attend the swearing-in ceremony in Delhi this evening.
Speaking then, he said, “Modi’s third term as Prime Minister after Jawaharlal Nehru is his achievement. My heartiest compliments to him. People have chosen a strong opposition party in this parliamentary election. This is a healthy sign for democracy. I expect the next five years to be good.” He said.
Later, when asked by journalists about the DMK alliance winning 40 seats, the Vimithya Siruthai Party and Nam Tamilar Party were recognized as state parties, actor Rajinikanth said congratulations to all of them.
After the National Democratic Alliance won 292 seats in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections, Narendra Modi will be sworn in as the Prime Minister for the third consecutive term. The event is scheduled to begin at 7:15 PM tonight at the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhavan in the national capital, Delhi.
27 to 30 ministers in Prime Minister Modi’s cabinet are expected to take office today. A third of them will belong to the National Democratic Alliance Party. Allotment of posts to coalition parties is expected on the basis of one Cabinet Minister for five MPs and one Minister of State for two MPs.
More than 8,000 guests including various dignitaries, celebrities, businessmen attend the inauguration ceremony. Following the swearing-in ceremony, President Draupadi Murmu hosts a dinner for dignitaries at the President’s House.
Leaders of many countries are expected to attend Modi’s inauguration ceremony. Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe, Maldives President Mohammad Muisu, Seychelles Vice President Ahmed Abib, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Mauritius Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jagnath, Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prasanda and Bhutan Prime Minister Tshering Topke are expected to participate in the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Modi.
