The unrestricted full curfew order issued on May 24 to control the 2nd wave of corona in Tamil Nadu has paid off.. Corona infection is endemic in 27 districts, including Chennai. Necessary steps are being taken to control the epidemic in all the 11 districts where corona is active.
With the exception of those 11 districts, a curfew was imposed for the 4th time from June 14 to 21 in various other 27 districts with various relaxations. In this context, Chief Minister MK Stalin today held a consultation at the General Secretariat on extending the full curfew for the 5th time. It is learned that various recommendations have been made to Chief Minister MK Stalin in consultation with Health Minister Ma Subramaniam, Health Secretary Radhakrishnan and a panel of medical experts.
A few districts have been advised to extend the full curfew for another week until June 28 as the corona infection has not abated. The panel of medical experts has recommended that the bus service be allowed in 50 districts with 50 per cent passengers except in eight districts, including Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Erode and Salem, which are high in corona infections. At the same time, all passengers are required to adhere strictly to the guidelines. The panel of medical experts also advised not to announce additional relaxations for corona-infected districts.
After concluding consultations with a panel of pharmacologists, Chief Minister MK Stalin will next hold consultations with top medical officials. Director of Medical Education Narayana Babu is scheduled to hold consultations with top officials including Director of Public Health Selva Vinayagam. After that, it has been reported that the government will release relaxations for 30 districts alone and for 8 districts which are not under the control of Corona.
