All the legislative parties have expressed their support for the Government of Tamil Nadu in the Mekedatu Dam issue and 3 resolutions have been passed.
The Karnataka government plans to build a dam at Mekedatu on the Tamil Nadu border. Chief Minister Eduyurappa had written a letter to the Tamil Nadu government for this. All the farmers are of the opinion that if this dam is built, agriculture in Tamil Nadu will be completely destroyed.
The Tamil Nadu government today called an all-party meeting to protest the plan. Accordingly, a meeting of 13 party representatives was held today under the chairmanship of Chief Minister MK Stalin. This was held at the General Secretariat, Chennai. AIADMK ex-minister Jayakumar, Manoj Pandian, DMK’s RS Bharathi, BJP’s Nainar Nagendran MLA, VP Thuraisamy and others were present.
In this, all the legislative parties have expressed their support for the Tamil Nadu government in the Mekedatu dam issue. Speaking on behalf of the BJP, VP Thuraisamy said that the BJP would support the decision of the Tamil Nadu government in the Cauvery issue. Similarly, all the 13 parties have stated their position. 3 resolutions have been passed in this meeting.
The Central Government should not give permission for the Mekedatu Dam project of the Government of Karnataka. All parties will extend full cooperation to all measures taken by the Government of Tamil Nadu. Three resolutions have been passed stating that all parties will go in person and submit the resolutions of the Mekedatu Dam to the Central Government.
