Prashant Kishore has said that he has given some advice to his friends in DMK regarding the growth of BJP in Tamil Nadu.
The AIADMK has suffered a crushing defeat in the ongoing general elections. This is the first election after AIADMK came under the leadership of Edappadi Palaniswami.
So he should have strategized more efficiently. Many people, including political commentator Ravindran Duraisamy, are speaking openly that Edappadi Palaniswami has slipped in making such a strategy.
Also some predictions are made that Edappadi Palaniswami will not be able to form a strong alliance even in the upcoming 2026 assembly elections.
AIADMK got 20.46% votes in this Lok Sabha election. Having fielded candidates in a total of 34 constituencies, the party should have secured more votes. In comparison, DMK contested only 22 constituencies. It got 26.93% votes.
The party had alliance strength. There is no such strength in the AIADMK alliance.
DMK strongly opposed Modi in this election field. Even though the AIADMK has pulled out of the BJP alliance, Palaniswami has not taken Modi’s opposition into his hands.
BJP’s companion party is AIADMK. Opposition DMK. But, instead of targeting DMK in this election, BJP national leaders have targeted AIADMK vote bank.
In particular, Prime Minister Modi said that Jayalalithaa gave good governance in Tamil Nadu. He praised MGR. Many people then said that the BJP was trying to target AIADMK’s votes.
Many people, including AIADMK senior leader Jayakumar, criticized the BJP for seeking votes by naming their party leaders instead of getting votes by naming their party leaders.
In this situation, political consultant and election strategist Prashant Kishore said in an interview to BBC that BJP can use AIADMK for its development in Tamil Nadu.
And he has openly spoken to his friends in the DMK that I have emphasized this point.
You said that BJP is growing in South India? Prashant Kishore, who came forward to answer the question, said, “I had said 2 years ago that BJP would get a double target vote percentage in Tamil Nadu. Similarly, the party got 11% votes in this election. Similarly, BJP has seen good growth in Telangana.
BJP has won almost 13 MPs in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana combined. Just add Odisha to it. BJP has grown in South India. If this party had not grown in Andhra Pradesh and Odisha, this time they would have fallen below 220 seats,” he said.
And do you believe BJP can grow in Tamil Nadu without Dravidian parties in him? The question was posed.
Kishore replied, “It won’t happen immediately. It’s a long-term plan. The big thing is that the BJP has got 11% votes in a big state like Tamil Nadu.
In Telangana they got 14% of the votes and it paid off. Maybe there are some other issues in Tamil Nadu. PRS to AIADMK The situation may arise for the party. I’m not saying it’s going to be easy. But, some other things can happen along with it.
BJP may take AIADMK place in future. They might like it too. Opponents of BJP should pay attention to this.
BJP getting 11% votes in Tamil Nadu is no ordinary thing. This should be taken seriously. Don’t be left out. This is what I have told my friends in the DMK,” he said.
