Speaker Om Birla said that diversity of opinion is good for democracy.
In the first session of the new parliament, the opposition parties raised various issues and engaged in violence. The debates in the Parliament were heated. In this situation, Speaker Ombirla went to his own constituency, Kota, Rajasthan.
There he gave an interview to reporters. He then said, “The election to the post of Speaker in Parliament shows that democracy is flourishing. This is something to be welcomed. Amritpal Singh and Rashid, who are prisoners, have been elected by the people. They have taken the oath as per the court guidelines.
The strength of opposition parties in Parliament is an opportunity to reflect the voice of the people. Diversity of opinion is good for democracy. Each member will be given an opportunity to express their views. We are looking for creative ideas to lead the country. Parliamentary debate should not be like a street fight. People expect a difference between a parliamentary debate and a street debate,” said Speaker Ombirla.
