Central Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman accused the opposition parties of trying to mislead people by making untruthful comments on the budget issue.
As the question hour began in the Rajya Sabha, members of the All-India Alliance chanted that the budget did not allocate enough funds to opposition-ruled states.
Central Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman responded to this.
He criticized the Congress-led opposition for trying to spread false information to make the public think that no funds have been allocated to their state in the budget.
Citing some examples of this, he mentioned that the Union Cabinet approved the construction of a port in Vadawan in Maharashtra, whereas the absence of the word Maharashtra in the budget does not mean that the state has been completely ignored.
Meanwhile, opposition members walked out of the House protesting Nirmala Sitharaman’s speech.
