Odisha’s first woman Deputy Chief Minister Pravathi Pareda has been allotted the Department of Women and Child Development, Mission Shakti and Tourism Development.
In the recently concluded assembly elections in Odisha, the BJP won 78 of the total 147 seats. won. Thus, the Biju Janata Party’s 24-year rule came to an end.
Following this, BJP’s Mohan Saran Majhi took charge as the Chief Minister on the 12th. In this situation, the Council of Ministers chaired by him discussed the allocation of portfolios to ministers.
At the end of this, a total of 8 ministers and 5 joint ministers were sworn in. The portfolios are allocated on the instructions of the Chief Minister.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan retained the post of Home Minister. Apart from this, he also held the Department of Public Administration and Public Grievances, Department of Information and Public Relations, Department of Water Resources, Planning and Coordination.
Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Dev was allotted portfolios of Agriculture and Farmers Empowerment and Energy. Another Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Pareda has been allotted the Department of Women and Child Development, Mission Shakti and Tourism Development.
Apart from these, key departments such as revenue and calamity department have been allocated to Suresh Pujari, rural development, panchayat raj and drinking water supply department to Rabi Narayan Naik and school education department to Nithyanand Kond. Pareda becomes the first woman Deputy Chief Minister of Odisha.
In the Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Saran, Governor Raghubar Das gave approval for allotment of different portfolios to ministers.
