Naveen Patnaik, who had been the Chief Minister of Odisha for 24 years, was sitting on the platform today in the swearing-in ceremony of the BJP Chief Minister.
Along with the Lok Sabha elections, assembly elections were also held in the states of Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh. In this, the BJP has won power for the first time in Odisha after defeating the ruling Biju Janata Dal.
Naveen Patnaik became the Chief Minister of Odisha after winning the Assembly elections in 2000. Since then, he has been the Chief Minister for the last 24 consecutive years.
In this situation, the Biju Janata Dal has won only 51 seats out of a total of 147 assembly constituencies in the Odisha assembly elections that have just concluded. BJP won 78 seats, Congress 14 seats, Marxist Communist 1 seat and Independent 1 seat.
In this case, there was great expectation as to who will become the Chief Minister of Odisha on behalf of the BJP. Mohan Charan Majhi has been elected as the leader of the BJP Legislative Party in Odisha. Mohan Charan, a tribal, won from Maji Keonjhar assembly seat.
The swearing-in ceremony of Mohan Saran Maji, who was selected as the Chief Minister of Odisha, was held at the Janata Maidan in Bhubaneswar today. Mohan Charan was sworn in as the former Chief Minister. With him K.V. Singh Deo and Pravadi Parita were sworn in as Deputy Chief Ministers. State ministers also took oath.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Chief Ministers of BJP-ruled states and others participated in the function. Biju Janata Dal leader and former Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik also attended the swearing-in ceremony.
Former Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik was formally invited to participate in the swearing-in ceremony. Mohan Charan had personally visited Naveen Patnaik. Former Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik accepted his invitation and attended the swearing-in ceremony today.
The BJP also made him sit on the stage of the swearing-in ceremony. Naveen Patnaik, who came to the inauguration ceremony, was welcomed by the BJP leaders and made to sit on the stage. Naveen Patnaik sat on the platform and watched as a BJP member was sworn in as Chief Minister of Odisha after 24 years.
Naveen Patnaik, who lost the post of Chief Minister, congratulated the new Chief Minister. Naveen Patnaik said on Mohan Charan Majhi’s inauguration as the Chief Minister of Odisha, “I hope his leadership, strength and ability will work in the service of the people of Odisha”.
Ahead of the recently concluded Lok Sabha and Odisha assembly elections, the leaders of both parties, BJP and BJD, attacked each other. Prime Minister Modi and Naveen Patnaik have been critical of each other. However, both of them shook hands at the swearing-in ceremony today.
Although he lost the chair of Chief Minister of Odisha after 24 years, Naveen Patnaik, who played a very important role in the development of Odisha state, is being praised on social media for being a good person even today and being a decent person despite his defeat in the elections.
