Mohan Charan Maji took oath as Chief Minister of Odisha State. Governor Raghubar Das administered the oath of office to Mohan Saran Maji.
Odisha was ruled by the Biju Janata Dal for the last 24 years. Naveen Patnaik was the Chief Minister. In the recently concluded assembly elections, the BJP won a single majority for the first time after defeating the Biju Janata Dal. Mohan Charan Maji was sworn in today as the first Chief Minister of Odisha.
Naveen Patnaik.. who was the indomitable political party leader of Odisha. He is the leader of the Biju Janata Dal and has been serving as the Chief Minister of Odisha for the last 24 years. In this context, the assembly elections were held for Odisha along with the Lok Sabha elections last month.
This election saw a three-way contest in Odisha. There was a fierce competition between the ruling Biju Janata Dal, the BJP and the Congress. There are a total of 147 assembly constituencies in Odisha. Here a party has to win 74 constituencies if it wants to come to power.
The BJP won the Assembly elections with a clear majority. BJP won 78 seats. Naveen Patnaik’s Biju Janata Dal won 51 seats. Congress won 14 seats, Independents 3 seats and CPM one seat. Out of which 2 independents said they would support the BJP. This has increased the number of MLAs supporting BJP to 80.
Also Congress and Biju Janata Dal parties have ruled in Odisha so far. In this state, the BJP has enjoyed power in a coalition government and has never once formed a single government. In this case, the BJP has single-handedly taken power through the just-concluded assembly elections. With that, Naveen Patnaik’s rule of 24 years as Chief Minister of Biju Janata Dal came to an end.
Naveen Patnaik has resigned from the post of Chief Minister due to his defeat in the assembly elections. A meeting of BJP MLAs was held yesterday. Union Ministers Rajnath Singh and Bhupendra Yadav participated as supervisors in this meeting. Mohan Charan Majhi was elected as the new Chief Minister in the meeting of BJP MLAs.
Odisha has a large tribal population. Thus, Mohan Charan has been selected as the former Chief Minister. Similarly, KV Singh Deo and Pravati Paritha have been selected as the Deputy Chief Ministers of the state. Mohan Charan Maji took oath as Chief Minister of Odisha today. Ministers are taking oath after that. Important leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Ministers Rajnath Singh, Bhupendra Yadav, Dharmendra Pradhan participated in this function.
Mohan Saran Maji, who has been selected as the Chief Minister of Odisha, is 53 years old. He belongs to a tribal community and has become an MLA from Keonchar constituency. He has won for the 4th time in this constituency.
He was associated with the RSS organization during his school days. During his youth he served in many important sub-organisations of the RSS. He has performed well in it. He also has the experience of working as Chief Whip in the BJP-Biju Janata Dal coalition government in Odisha.
Likewise, KV Singh Deo, who has been selected as Deputy Chief Minister, has become MLA for the 6th time. Belongs to the royal family of Patna. He was a minister in the Naveen Patnaik cabinet during the BJP-Biju Janata Dal regime. Another Deputy Chief Minister Pravathi Paritha has been elected as MLA for the first time. She served as the woman president of BJP from 2016 to 2022. After that he served as BJP Vice President and now he is taking charge as Deputy Chief Minister.
