Governor RN Ravi, who carried out cleaning work at Gandhi Mandapam in Guindy, Chennai, said that the lying of liquor bottles in Gandhi Mandapam premises is against Gandhian principles.
On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of Swachh India Project, cleanliness work was carried out at Gandhi Mandapam in Chennai. Governor RN Ravi along with students, volunteers and members of NGOs participated in the cleanliness drive while the work was carried out on the theme “Cleanliness is Service”.
Then, along with the Governor, the students took a pledge on cleanliness, social service and environmental protection.
Following this, Governor RN Ravi cleaned the statue of Gandhi in Gandhi Mandapa premises by pouring water and also cleaned the plastic items and garbage lying in the premises wearing gloves. In this event, more than 150 volunteers participated in the cleanliness drive along with the Governor.
Governor Ravi, who met the media after carrying out the cleanliness drive, instructed that students should be involved in cleanliness drive at least once a month in every university. Stating that lack of cleanliness is the main cause of disease, Governor RN Ravi regretted that lying liquor bottles in the Gandhi Hall premises is against Gandhi’s principles.
