The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance won around 293 constituencies while promising to win 400 constituencies. The India Alliance, which entered the field amid great expectations, won around 240 constituencies in a tough competition.

President Draupadi Murmu administered the oath of office and secrecy to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union ministers at a grand ceremony at the President’s House in Delhi at 7:15 pm.

Lok Jan Shakti’s Chirag Paswan has been appointed to the Ministry of Food Processing. Jayant Chowdhury, an MP from BJP’s ally Rashtriya Lok Dal in Uttar Pradesh, has been allotted the joint portfolio of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and the Ministry of Education. Former Karnataka Chief Minister and Secular Janata Dal MP HD Kumaraswamy has been allotted the Ministry of Steel and Heavy Industries.
