In Jammu and Kashmir, National Conference leader Omar Abdullah won both the contested constituencies. The much-anticipated PDP candidate, Mehbooba Mufti’s daughter Iltija Mufti, lost in Bijbehara.
Umar Abdullah, the leader of the National Conference Party who contested in Badkam and Kandarpal constituencies, won both seats. In Badkam constituency, he won by securing 36 thousand 10 votes. The People’s Democratic Party candidate who contested against him lost by securing only 17 thousand 525 votes.
In Kandarpal, another constituency, Omar Abdullah won by a margin of 10,574 votes. The People’s Democratic Party candidate who contested against him lost by getting only 22,153 votes.
Iltija Mufti, the candidate of People’s Democratic Party and daughter of Mehbooba Mufti, lost in Bijbehara Constituency. Iltija Mufti lost the chance of victory to the candidate of National Conference Party by a margin of 9,770 votes by getting 23 thousand 529 votes.
National Conference Party candidate Abdul Majid won in Anantnag West constituency. He got 25 thousand 135 votes and won by a margin of about ten thousand votes.
Sagun Parihar, a woman candidate who contested on behalf of BJP in Kistwar constituency, won by securing a total of 29 thousand 53 votes and defeating the National Conference Party candidate by a margin of 521 votes.
National Conference Party’s Jawad Hasan won in Baramulla Constituency. In this constituency, independent candidate came second while Congress candidate got 5 seats and lost miserably.
