Counting of votes in 13 assembly constituencies in 7 states is underway. “India” coalition parties are leading in 11 seats out of 13 by-elections. BJP’s National Democratic Alliance is ahead in only 2 seats.
Raiganj, Ranagat Thaksin, Bagda, Maniktala in West Bengal; Rupali in Bihar, Jalandhar West in Punjab; Dehra, Hamirpur, Nalagarh in Himachal Pradesh; Badrinath, Mangalore in Uttarakhand; Amarwara in Madhya Pradesh; By-elections were held for 13 Vikravandi constituencies in Tamil Nadu. The votes cast in this constituency are being counted from 8 am today and the results are being announced.
Rudratandavam in West Bengal: The ruling Trinamool Congress is leading in all the by-elections to the 4 assembly constituencies in West Bengal. BJP had won 3 of these 4 constituencies in 2021 assembly elections. Trinamool won only in 1. Currently Trinamool Congress is capturing all the 3 seats which were held by BJP.
Uttarakhand: Congress is ahead in both Badrinath and Mangalore constituencies where by-elections were held in Uttarakhand. Congress candidate is leading in Badrinath constituency by a narrow margin of votes. There is competition between Congress and Bahujan Samaj Party candidates in Mangalore constituency. BJP is 3rd in this constituency.
Himachal Pradesh: BJP is also facing setback in Himachal Pradesh. Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh’s wife Kamlesh Thakur is leading in Dehra constituency. BJP’s Kamlesh Thakur is facing backlash. Congress is leading in Hamirpur too.
Bihar: BJP’s ally JD(U) is leading in Rupali constituency in Bihar. In this block, RJD candidate of India Alliance has been relegated to the 3rd place.
Punjab: Aam Aadmi Party is leading in Jalandhar West, Punjab. Congress comes from 2nd position. Here also the BJP candidate got only 3rd position.
BJP lead only in MP: BJP candidate leads only in Amarwara constituency of Madhya Pradesh. In this constituency too, he is ahead of the Congress candidate by a margin of about 2,000 votes.
Vikravandi: DMK of India alliance continues to lead in Vikravandi constituency of Tamil Nadu. The BJP alliance is facing a backlash from the Left Party.
BJP lead in only one seat: Out of 13 constituencies up for by-election, BJP’s ally JD(U) is leading in MP’s Amarwara in Bihar. The remaining 11 seats are dominated by the Congress-Aam Aadmi Party.
BJP’s Colossal Defeat: In the Lok Sabha elections, the BJP suffered such a huge defeat that it could not get a majority. Due to this, BJP was able to form the government at the center with the help of the coalition parties. Following the Lok Sabha elections, the BJP has suffered massive defeats in all the 13 assembly constituencies held so far.
