After Nehru, Modi takes office with the honor of becoming the Prime Minister for the third consecutive term. Similarly, 30 MPs are being selected as Union Ministers today. 4 people have been selected from the state of Gujarat.
Amit Shah: Amit Shah was the Union Home Minister in Modi’s 2.O government. He contested from Kantha Nagar constituency in this Lok Sabha election and defeated the Congress candidate by a margin of 10 lakh votes. Amit Shah had faced severe criticism in connection with the passage of several important bills starting with CAA.
His recent interview to a private news media to invest in stock markets ahead of the election results caused a stir. Rahul Gandhi had demanded an inquiry against Amit Shah, saying investors had lost up to Rs 30 lakh crore as the stock market collapsed after the results. But despite these criticisms and accusations, Amit Shah is emerging as a politician.
Jaishankar: Jaishankar was the Union Minister of External Affairs in Modi’s 2.O government. He did not contest this Lok Sabha election. But as a member of the Rajya Sabha, he has resumed office as a Union Minister today. President Draupadi Murmu administered the oath of office to him.
In the previous regime, many accusations were heaped on Jaishankar in the China issue. Apart from this, there were also criticisms against Jaishankar in issues like the docking of a Chinese research vessel in Sri Lanka and the withdrawal of Indian soldiers from the Maldives. But the BJP has said that his work was excellent in rescuing Indians from Ukraine during the war.
Mansukh Mandaviya: Mansukh Mandaviya was the Union Health Minister in Modi’s 2.O government. He contested from Porbandar constituency in Gujarat in this Lok Sabha election and defeated the Congress candidate by a margin of 3 lakh votes. During the previous regime, he faced allegations of changing the logo of the health department and not allocating adequate funds to states including Kerala.
Apart from this, criticisms have also arisen that the weakness in the medical sector should be removed and the sector should be strengthened. In this case, he has been sworn in as the Union Minister again today. President Draupadi Murmu administered the oath of office to him.
C. Arpatil: Although he was from Maharashtra, the people of Gujarat recognized him as their political leader. He has been elected to the Lok Sabha from Navsari constituency in Gujarat for the last three times. In this case, he has been elected for the fourth time in the recent elections. This time he defeated the Congress candidate who stood against him by a margin of 7 lakh votes.
So this time he has been given a place in the central cabinet. He was sworn in by President Draupadi Murmu.
