Seven new women ministers were sworn in in the Union Cabinet on Wednesday.
The Union Cabinet headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi was expanded on Wednesday. 43 became ministers. Of these, 36 are new.
Seven women, including Meenakshi Legi, Anupriya Patel and Shoba Karandalaje, have been appointed as new ministers. The number of women ministers has increased to 11, including former ministers Nimala Sitharaman, Smriti Irani, Satvi Niranjan Jyoti and Renuka Singh.
Earlier, 12 Union ministers resigned in the wake of the cabinet expansion. Devasree Chaudhary, who was the Minister for Women and Child Welfare, was one of them.
