A meeting of India Alliance Party leaders was held in Delhi today. Congress president Mallikarjuna Kharge said that after this consultation, we will try to remove the BJP government when the time comes according to the sentiments of the people.
The 18th Lok Sabha election in our country was conducted in 7 phases. The votes cast were counted yesterday and the results announced. In this, the BJP did not even get a majority.
Any party needs to win 272 seats to form a government with a simple majority in the 543-seat Parliament. But BJP won only 240 seats. Telugu Desam in NDA won 16 seats, JD(U) won 12 seats and Shinde Shiv Sena won 6 seats.
While the exit poll results suggested that the BJP would win power with a single majority, the election results showed the opposite. A huge shock awaited the BJP, which faced the election with 400+ seats. At the same time the hand of the Congress and India alliance was lifted.
The India Alliance won 234 seats by falsifying the polls. Following this, a consultative meeting of India Alliance Party leaders was held in Delhi this evening. Congress president Mallikarjuna Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, DR Balu, Sarath Pawar, Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena Sanjay Rawat, Akhilesh Yadav and others attended the meeting.
Mallikarjuna Kharge, who met the media after the meeting, said:- People have voted against the anti-democratic actions of the BJP government. The India Alliance will continue to fight for the election promises it made.
We will try to remove the BJP government when the time comes according to the sentiments of the people. This is what he said. Similarly, Rahul Gandhi said, “The election result has made it clear that the voice of the India Alliance is the voice of the people. The India Alliance will unite and oppose the anti-people trend of the BJP.”
