With President Draupadi Murmu calling for government formation, Narendra Modi will be sworn in as Prime Minister on Sunday evening.
As the Lok Sabha elections were recently completed, the election results were announced on June 4. Will Narendra Modi sit in the Prime Minister’s chair again this time? Or will the India alliance give a strong contest and take over the government? As the expectations intensified, the BJP-led NDA alliance faced tough competition from the beginning during the counting of votes.
Finally, the BJP alliance won 293 seats and the Congress-led India Alliance won 234 seats. Taking on the BJP cannot form a government with the help of Chandrababu Naidu’s Telugu Desam and Nitish Kumar’s United Janata Dal. These two parties have 33 constituencies of 17+16. Deducting this, the BJP alliance will get only 260 seats. 272 seats are required to get majority.
So now the BJP is embracing Chandrababu Naidu’s Telugu Desam and Nitish Kumar’s United Janata Dal. Today, a meeting of NDA alliance leaders and MPs was held in Delhi. In this meeting, Narendra Modi was unanimously elected as the Speaker of the Lok Sabha. Similarly, Modi has been chosen as the leader of the BJP-NDA alliance.
Following this, Modi met the President this afternoon and gave the list of MPs supporting the NDA alliance and claimed BJP’s right to form the government. In this case, President Draupadi Murmu has invited Modi to form the government. So Narendra Modi will be re-instated as Prime Minister on Sunday evening.
Speaking earlier in the meeting, Modi said, “I was at the PC on the day the election results were announced. Then I started getting phone calls. I also got information that the BJP did not get the majority. This indicates one thing. The criticism raised about the Election Commission and the EVM machine for the past few days has been silenced by these results.
The strength of Indian democracy is that electronic voting machines and those who question the Election Commission have been kept quiet after the election results. In the next 10 years, the NDA government will focus on good governance, development and improvement in the lives of ordinary citizens. Looking at the election results, the world believes that this is the biggest victory of the National Democratic Alliance,” he said.
BJP workers burst firecrackers to celebrate Modi’s election as Lok Sabha Leader.
