Janata Dal United’s victory in Bihar has given Nitish Kumar a golden opportunity in his political career.
Before looking at Nitish Kumar’s golden opportunity, let’s look at an incident that happened in 2014. In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.. before the BJP won.. there was a doubt whether the BJP would get a single majority.
The question was whether the BJP would be able to rule with a single majority. Mainly the chances of BJP capturing southern states were seen as less. At that time many eyes were on Nitish Kumar.
A question arose whether Nitish Kumar will support BJP if it does not get majority.. Will he support BJP to rule? And he will not support Modi. Nitish criticized the Modi regime in Gujarat. There was a question whether Nitish would support the BJP if he did not get a majority in 2014. Also there were reports that he would support the BJP government but not Modi.
But in 2014 there was no need for it. Then BJP got majority. The need to support Modi, which did not exist then, has now arisen after 10 years. Only with his support, Modi can come to power for the 3rd term.
BJP did not get majority in 2024 Lok Sabha elections. BJP has won 240 seats. BJP needs the support of Telugu Desam and United Janata Dal in NDA to form the government. Like this, the support of the Lok Janata Party and Shinde’s Shiv Sena Party is also needed.
BJP can form government only with their support. Henceforth BJP is in a situation where what they say is the law.
Majority count: NDA alliance has won almost 292 constituencies in 2024 Lok Sabha elections. BJP alone has won 240 seats. Congress won 97 seats. India Alliance has won 229 seats. In many places the complete results are yet to be declared.
Nitish Kumar’s United Janata Dal should support him to form a BJP government in Bihar. They have 12 MPs. Chandrababu Naidu’s Telugu Desam in Andhra Pradesh should support BJP to form government. They have 16 MPs. BJP cannot form government without their support.
Golden opportunity: United Janata Dal’s victory in Bihar has given Nitish Kumar a golden opportunity in his political career.
- Nitish Kumar may ask BJP for Prime Minister or Deputy Prime Minister post. Because the India alliance is even ready to make him Prime Minister or Deputy Prime Minister.
2, Finance, Defense and Road Transport Departments can be asked in the BJP Cabinet. The India Alliance will give it to him easily.
- Bihar can ask for assistance on projects related to special investments.
- Nitish needs Tejashwi Yadav’s RJD strength over BJP to protect the party at the state level in Bihar. Thus Nitish can even go towards India keeping the future in mind. If that decision is taken, it will be a blow to the BJP.
- Nitish’s personal power may decrease little by little if Modi comes again.
- He may demand to replace Modi as Prime Minister.
This time what he says is the law, so he can definitely ask many things beyond what he said above. Politically, Nitish’s biggest golden opportunity has now come to him.
