AYUSH research has revealed that Tamilnadu Siddha medicine can cure anemia.
A team of researchers from the Ministry of AYUSH’s National Institute of Siddha Medicine (NIS) and renowned Siddha Medicine Institutes of the country developed Tamil Nadu Siddha Medicinal Mixture ‘APNM’ containing Annabethi Senthuram, Bhavanak Kadukai, Pomegranate Manapagu and Gooseberry Legium. Research has found that the drug improves hemoglobin and related nutrients in adolescent girls with anemia.
This attempt was made to mainly use Siddha drugs in reducing anemia. 2 thousand 648 girls were tested in this study.
About the impact and significance of the study results, Director of the National Institute of Psychiatric Medicine, Dr. R. Meenakumari said, “Siddha medicine plays a significant role in the public health initiatives of the Ministry of AYUSH. Awareness is created among young women, dietary counselling, preventive care and treatment with Siddha drugs have benefited anemic patients. Thus, Siddha drugs for anemia play a cost-effective role in public health.” .
