As the Lok Sabha elections have just concluded in our country, the next phase is now the by-elections in 13 constituencies in seven states. There is a fierce competition between the ruling NDA and the opposition India Alliance. Why are by-elections in these 13 constituencies?
The Lok Sabha elections have just ended. In this the opposition won the maximum number of seats, defying all opinion polls. Meanwhile, by-elections are going on for 13 assembly constituencies in seven states.
It is expected that there will be a tough competition between the ruling NDA party and the opposition India Alliance in this election to be held on July 10.
13 constituencies: Raiganj, Ranagat Thaksin, Bagda and Maniktala in West Bengal, 4 constituencies Vikravandi in Tamil Nadu, Amarwara in Madhya Pradesh, Rupali in Bihar, Badrinath and Mangalore in Uttarakhand, Jalandhar West in Punjab, Dehra, Hamirpur and Nalagarh in Himachal Pradesh. going on
By-elections are held due to reasons such as death of an MLA, resignation and joining other parties. While the counting of votes will be held on July 10, it has been announced that the counting of votes will be held on July 13. Let’s see how the field conditions are in these 13 constituencies.
West Bengal: By-elections are held in maximum 4 constituencies in West Bengal. BJP had won 3 out of 4 constituencies (Raiganj, Ranagat Thaksin and Bagda) last time. MLAs from those constituencies defected to the BJP before the Lok Sabha elections and joined the Trinamool Congress, and though they contested the Lok Sabha elections, all three were defeated.
Similarly, Trinamool leader Sadan Pandey passed away and by-elections were held there. Who these 4 blocks go to is seen as very important.
Tamil Nadu: As far as Tamil Nadu is concerned, the by-election is going on for Vikravandi constituency. Bhujahendi, who was the MLA here, passed away last April, and by-elections are being held there. From the ruling DMK-BMC alliance, the BMC and Naam Tamils are in the field. The opposition AIADMK has announced that it will boycott the by-elections.
Anniyur Siva is contesting on behalf of DMK and vice-president of the party Anbumani is contesting on behalf of BAM. Nam Tamilar Party has fielded Dr. Abhinaya. Campaigning is going on vigorously in this constituency, which has a large population of Vanniyars. Kallakurichi’s death is expected to have a major impact on this by-election.
Uttarakhand: Badrinath constituency by-election is going on in the state of Uttarakhand. Rajendra Bhandari, who was the Congress MLA in that constituency, resigned last March and joined the BJP. As a result, there is a by-election. The Badrinath block is considered important as it includes Badrinarayan Temple, Sar Dham Temple and Joshimath, one of Shankaracharya’s four monasteries.
Similarly, the by-election is being held there because Bahujan Samaj Party’s Sarwat Karim Ansari, who was an MLA in the Lokur constituency, died last October.. The BJP has never won in this constituency, which has a majority of Muslims. Due to this, it is expected that there will be a tough competition in this constituency.
Himachal Bresam: By-elections are going on in 3 constituencies in Himachal Pradesh namely Dehra, Hamirpur and Nalgarh. BJP says that there will be a big change in Himachal Pradesh after this by-election. Earlier this year, 3 independent MLAs who supported the Congress voted in favor of BJP candidate Harsh Mahajan in the Rajya Sabha elections.
He subsequently resigned from his MLA post and joined the BJP. Now independent MLAs are back in the fray in three constituencies. In this, the wife of Congress Chief Minister Suku, who is ruling the constituency in Dehra, is entering the field.
Other Constituencies: In Bihar, Nitish Kumar’s JDU MLA Bhima Bharti joined the RJD after doing so before the Lok Sabha elections. So, there is a by-election in that Rupali. The RJD side is giving the same chance to Bhima Bharti. Meanwhile, Kaladhar Mandal is contesting from the JTU side. Both belong to the Gangoda community which is the majority in this constituency.
Similarly, by-elections are going on in Jalandhar West constituency in Punjab. Aam Aadmi Party MLA Sheetal Angural joined the BJP before the Lok Sabha elections, and by-elections are happening there. There is a fierce competition between the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party. The ruling Aam Aadmi Party is determined to somehow retain it.
