Odisha Puri Jagannath Temple’s treasure room opens on 14th. This room is said to contain precious jewels. It is noteworthy that the BJP had alleged that the key to this treasure room is in Tamil Nadu.
In ancient times, treasures were stored in temples. There are many unopened treasure rooms in temples across the country. These have been opened recently. The treasure room in Kerala’s Thiruvananthapuram temple was opened a few years ago. Following this, the treasure room of the Puri Jagannath Temple in Odisha is soon to be opened.
This treasure room was opened 46 years ago. After that, this room will be opened on the 14th. A committee has been constituted by the temple administration to count the valuables in this room. The panel is chaired by former Odisha High Court judge Biswanath Rath. He is the one who informed about the opening of the treasure room of this temple.
“The BJP government of Odisha will open the treasure room of the temple on July 14 if everything goes according to plan. The idea will be taken to the state government. We have developed a standard operating procedure for opening the treasure room. We will also submit this to the government,” he said.
Before this, efforts were made to open the treasure room of the temple in 2018. But could not open. When this room is opened, there are many important tasks to be done like protecting the treasures, renovating the room and further improving the security of the room.
Earlier BJP had alleged that the key of this room had gone to Tamil Nadu. Assembly elections were recently held in the state of Odisha. In this, the BJP had launched a vigorous campaign against Naveen Patnaik’s Biju Janata Dal. In particular, the BJP had unleashed a campaign targeting Tamil Nadu’s VK Pandiyan, who was considered the political successor of the then Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
The BJP had alleged that Pandyan belonged to Tamil Nadu and therefore the key to the Puri temple’s treasure room had gone to Tamil Nadu. It is noteworthy that the Biju Janata Dal lost heavily in the Odisha Assembly elections.
